My Notions & Emotions

A Journal of My Notions & Emotions

Blog EntryMay 14, '09 4:05 PM
for everyone
Got this from my bro, Ryan. Im just kinda torn right now between making two important decisions, so maybe just doing this for fun would give me an insight. Read on.

1st Position:

Knight of Wands (Staffs)
You are at a point of uncertainty, there is stress and difficulty at this time figuring out exactly who you are and what you need to be doing, but this is a growth period and a learning experience so embrace it and bless it for what it is - looking for the opportunities for positive change presenting themselves.

2nd Position:
Tarot Wisdom: Judgement
You want to put the past behind you and move on to something new without feeling that sense of distrust or fear of failure. A definite drive to not repeat past mistakes may be causing you to judge situations prematurely.

3rd Position:
Tarot Wisdom: Seven of Swords
Troubles with organization and establishing priorities, you may be a perfectionist to a fault. If I can't do it "the best" then don't bother at all. Upset with someone close , perhaps even yourself , who you feel continually disappoints you. Fear of rejection or failure may cause you to act out of character or do things you wouldn't normally do.

4th Position:
Tarot Wisdom: Ace of Swords
You need to understand the value of your own worth and talents regardless of the opinions of others. Others opinions are not necessary for you to have an inner sense of knowing. Inner peace comes from solitary satisfaction. Don't let others cause you to sway from your ideals. Be willing to put your ideas to the test, and cut away that which no longer serves your growth.

 5th Position:
Tarot Wisdom: The Wheel of Fortune
Don't get stuck on the status quo or the plans you make. The best fortune comes to those who roll with the changes and let things be as they will. Life is full of changes, accept that and the full range of life opens up to you, resist it and you will always feel a need to struggle. Peace comes by relinquishing the need for a sense of control which is an illusion.

for everyone
After having decided that i will give birth here in Doha, our family took a short holiday instead of going back to Manila before the arrival of our 2nd baby. Call it a family holiday or babymooning...whatever. Just in time for Richie's training (again?) in Mainz, our first option was to spend the holiday in Berlin but since travel time & cost is almost the same as going to Paris, we chose to spend the remaining days in France. Besides, we have seen more of Germany already and visiting another European country was quite more exciting. Uh, and the tought that we're having another baby soon could take us a while before we can finally tour again. It was different this time though. First, I needed to be in a slow pace since i was already going 23 weeks preggy before we left. Though my blood sugar went up, my OB gave me the green light and advised me to walk for at least 30 minutes a day(and to stay away from chocolates during our trip, hehe).  Nah, i knew that staying in Paris would entail a lot of walking so i asked if that's ok. She said it was fine. But of course, with a mom-to-be-again instinct, I still needed to watch out & be extra careful given my condition. Second, our trip was more exciting because my aunties from London planned to meet us in Paris.

--------------------------------

We arrived in Mainz lat Aug.30 on a sunny weather. The hotel that we stayed in is located just a few minutes walk to the old town, much better than the other hotels that we stayed in during our past visits in the city. The ambiance is good, and the place is more relaxing. In fact Miggy enjoyed looking out from our room's window, watching at the trees, cars & buses on the road.

A view from our hotel room. Miggy loves watching from the window.

The street from our hotel going to Schillerplatz & Old town.

Summer was just about to end, and it was good to see Germany at 8pm with the sun still up.The days are longer so we were able to spend more time outside than the past years that we went there.

Fountain near our hotel. It was already 8pm but Miggy still wanted to play around here.

We stayed in Mainz for 6 days. The rest of the time after a day of Richie's training we plainly winded up, walking around town, taking pictures, and enjoyed eating pork for dinner (oh yes, the only chances to eat the food we always miss in Doha).

Friday, Sept.5
We took our flight to Paris at past 11 in the morning via Air France.
From the Charles de Gaulle airport, we were fetched by the Blue Van which i booked the day before. Taking the cab in Paris is quite expensive, so i opted for this one. Although sharing the ride with some other tourists had eaten up some of our time, we were able to see some areas within Paris. The hotel that we stayed in was close to the Arc de Triomph, so we were able to walk on our way there & to the Champs-Elysees. But yes, for a pregnant mom like me it was tiring, adding the fact that it rained in the afternoon.

Saturday, Sept.6
The next day, i was so excited to see my aunts. We fetched my Tita Norma & Tita Miriam at Gare du Nord (Paris North Station). This is the busiest station in Europe, and the third-busiest railway station in the world which serves trains coming from and to various international destinations such as the UK, Belguim and Netherlands. We were supposed to be there at 10:30am, a few minutes earlier before their arrival but as first timers, it was confusing. We arrived at 11:30am while the Euro train came on time, exactly at 11:15am.

Happy & excited faces: With my aunties at Gare du Nord

Me and my aunties were delighted to be reunited even for one day because we haven't seen each other for more than 3 years. Miggy was only a baby then, 6 months to be exact. The last time they saw Richie was 6 years ago during our wedding.

After depositing their luggage in our hotel, we had our lunch and proceeded to
Arc de Triomph and tried to find our way around. We took the metro going to the Eiffel Tower , the global icon of France, and spent time chatting in its park. I really wished to go up the tower and have a view of the whole city but there was a long queue.

Chatting with my aunties at Champs de Mars where the Eiffel Tower is located

                                                    Lovers at the park

After the Eiffel Tower, we went ahead to Notre Dame de Paris by the metro. Notre Dame which means "Our Lady" in French, is the cathedral of Paris and the seat of the archbishop of the city. I admire so much the facade, sculptures and portals which was symbolically made. We stayed inside to hear mass & made a candle offering.

The west facade of Notre Dame de Paris

We planned to go back to Eiffel Tower and take the cruise from there, but saw that there is also one starting from where we are. I read that cruising at night is far better in order to appreciate Paris being called the "city of lights". From our cruise, seeing the structures & buildings in Paris with the lights on is so adorable & romantic, more particularly the Eiffel Tower with its sparkling blue & strobe lights. For you to see what i'm talking about, check this youtube video which i find exactly the same from what we've seen on cruise.

Sunday, Sept.7

The previous day was long & tiring, so everyone woke up late the next morning. Most of the shops are closed during Sundays except some at the Champs-Elysees. We first had a French breakfast in one of the cafe's, then headed straight to this renowned avenue in Paris which is also considered as one of the most famous streets in Europe. In spite of my big bump, i managed & braved to take some pictures with my aunts in the middle of the street.

Braving this famous street with my tita Miriam. This is the west end of  Champs-Elysees,  called Charles de Gaulle where the Arc de Triomph is situated.

The flagship store  of Louis Vuitton located in Champs-Elysees

Walking through this prestigious avenue, there are signature boutiques, cafes & cinemas where tourists flocked in to shop & eat. We passed by at the flagship store of Louis Vuitton where you can see a complete variety of their luxurious products. I'm just impressed with the staff as they welcome everyone with a smile. Yes, they are more accommodating compared to the staff at the LV shop here in Doha.

After shopping for souenirs, we needed to rush to the train station at 4 pm for my aunties departure going back to London. As the old adage says, "time flies when you're having fun", looked like the one day was not really enough for us to bond. We immediately went back to the hotel to get their luggage then took the metro going to Gare du Nord. We arrived at around 3pm and had our lunch then took some pictures for the last time. Being the emotional preggy that i am, i was in teary eyes when i bade them goodbye.

                                                            Lunch at Gare du Nord

Time to say goodbye...with my aunties for their trip going back to London

After dropping them off at the train station we went again to Champs-Elysees, and bought tickets for Euro Disney at the Virgin store. We had a walk all the way to the other end of the avenue called Place de la Concorde. From here we took the metro going to the Louvre Museum, and although i know that there was not enough time to tour inside, we proceeded just to see the exterior of this famous national museum of France.

The view of Champs-Elysees from the other end called Place de la Concorde

Richie posing at the street sign, while i was in the middle of the avenue taking shots

We were able to get inside the museum, but seemed that it was about to close. And since a visit there will take at least a day, we just managed to take shots around the pyramid and courtyard of the palace.

Sept.8, Monday
It's our last day in Paris, but it would have never been complete without a visit to Euro Disney. It was actually more of Richie's idea to see the place so that Miggy could enjoy his time. I needed to wake up both boys because i wanted to get there at 10am to see the Disney characters at the entrance for their opening & welcome number. Going there we rode the RER train which took us about 40 minutes. Even for a Monday, there was too much crowd, but i guess not as crowded during weekends. Having seen Mickey Mouse, i asked Richie if we can join the queue for the picture taking. Mickey Mouse is actually Miggy's favorite disney character, and i wouldn't let the chance pass without him taking an autograph &  pic with Mickey.

Miggy asked for Mickey's autograph

Like little kids, Richie & I explored and enjoyed  the Disney park as much as Miggy did. Among our favorite ride are the Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast and It's a Small World. It was very tiring, we did lack the time to see and experience other attractions but with the limited time that we had, it was still worth it going there.

Sept.9, Tuesday

Past 1pm we flew back to Frankfurt aboard Air France. The weather was quite hot, compared when we left off. We did our last shopping, bought some souvenirs, had dinner then took a rest early for our flight back to Doha the next morning.

I received this email from a friend from Germany. Though i am not sure about its veracity, i just want to share this to let anyone who read my blog be informed and aware. Let's just hope & pray that this will not happen.

Uncanny Prophesy: What will happen to the world and to the Philippines at 2008

Mr. Juseleeno Nobulega DaRoose is Brazilian, born in 1960, 47 years old now, his occupation is a teacher, he is a normal citizen, having a very poor life with his wife and kids. All the events which Mr. Juselleno predicted had clear indication of the year, month date of the disasters, incase any third party wants to confirm the facticity of his prophesy, Mr. Juselleno always put the story which he predicted to the notarization office or post office for the approval.

Somebody asked him, how old did he start the prophesy dream, he answered: 9 years old, from 1969, he dreamed 3 events a day, sometimes 9 events, the times he dreamed is different every day. He said all the prophesy dreams were automatically in his dream. When Mr. Juseleeno was 19 years old, he met the famous Brazilian prophesy Saint Mr. Franciscoshabiz, after that the worldwide disaster events were increased in his prophesy dream. Mr. Franciscoshabiz was two times the candidate for the Nobel Prize, he is a very famous differential functional person, at the same time he is also the Charitarian. The events which Mr. Juseleeno predicted are already more than 80000, firstly let’s look at below a few big worldwide events and huge disaster from his prophesy.

◎ Princess Diana was assassinated;

Mr. Juseleeno sent a warning letter to Diana via post office on 4th March,1997 “ I got the message from the God that someone is planning to kill you in the car accident, your life will be dangerous, 7 angels told me about this. You may die in this car accident and the specialist may close this case as a driving mistake, but they are totally wrong. The murder is close to you…. And it will happen before 2000”

Juseleeno also send this warning letter to the time, Darlytelegraph and Guardian etc. new agents in England , but never published. The car accident was happened on 31st August,1997, 5 month after the warning letter was sent out. Just as the prophesy said that the case was closed as driving mistake. The accuracy of this prophesy is not only to predict the huge event but also the truth of the intrigue behind the event. There are a lot of rumors after the accident, Diana was killed by the England royal family centered by queen Elizabeth.

The prophesy said it will happen before 2000, though there isn’t exact date on, but this prophesy was sent to the president( Fe rnandoHenriqueSilvaCardoso) of Brazil 2 years before the accident and mentioned about “from 1997 to 98 that Diana will die” etc.

◎ The second attack of World Trade Center , it is 911

Jeseleeno sent the warning letter to the president of USA in 1989, the warning letter had also published at a notarization office which run by Mr. Klicheeba in the town of Palana . This warning letter also predicted that the World Trade Center will get the first attack in 1993, though there was no exact date on but the second attack was clearly told 11th September,2001. Everyone knew the result, the first attack was happened on 26th Fe b.1993 three and half year after the warning letter sent out, the parking place was blow up and many people injured, the second attack was happened on 11th Sept.2001, 13 years after the warning letter sent out, it is the 911.

The exclamatory thing is, this prophesy also told about Afghanistan and Iraq war will start after 911, after Iraq lost, the president Haisan will run to Adawr the middle of Iraq etc. are all in the letter, like you all know, the events in the prediction letter were happened one by one.

◎ Sumatra Indonesia earthquake

Juseleeno sent the warning letter about Indonesia Sumatra Earthquake to the India Embassy on 16th September, 1996, about 8 years before the disaster. This warning letter predicted that there will be 8.9 earthquake in Aceh Indonesia in the morning of 26th December,2004. India and Indonesia will be attacked by the tsunami. He sent the warning letter to the president of Indonesia on 30th April, 1997, the letter is about “ I dreamed that 7:00am 26th Dec, 2004, South Asia will be attacked by 8.9 earthquake, at the same time will get the tsunami, the area will be Aceh Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Maladiv, Bombay. And many people will be dead……

The result is- the earthquake was happened at 07:58am 26th Dec. More than 200000 people dead, the biggest tsunami was about 30 meters, a lot people were dead by the tsunami. He also sent the same letter to Indonesia , Philippine, Thailand and other Embassies. He also got the thanks letter from these countries.

The thanks letter from Meigawadi said “ about the 2004 earthquake and tsunami, to prevent the disaster, we must do a lot of things, but in another hand, we can do nothing”. The thanks letter from Indonesia Embassy said “…..we will send this letter to our government, if you have any update information, please let us know”.

>From above information, Juseleeno already predicted that there will be more than 200000 people die in the tsunami and earthquake 8 years before the disaster, he sent the warning letter with detail date on to these countries, but nobody did any preventive measures.

The writer pick up a few events which Juseleeno predicted for the future.

2007

Tornado attacked Brazil , thousands people dead.

2007 or July of 2008 Japan will get earthquake and get 30 meters tsunami.

2010

The temperature will reach 58 degrees in many countries of Africa , at the same time will lack of water.

15th June, the New York stock market will be

The temperature in Africa will reach 58 degrees, it is unbelievable number, but in May 2007, people who travel around Africa said the temperature in Greece and Turkey are already 39-40 degrees, Iraq and Arabia is about 45-46 degrees, it is possible to happen in the summer but not in may, we can imagine that in the summer of 2010, the world will become warmer and Africa will get the high temperature.

2011

Will found the treatment for Cancer. But another new cancer will occur.

A serious disease will occur, it will be called ALS, People will die after 4 hours get ALS

Bird flu H5N1 will infect to human, 7300000 people will die till 2013.

Mr.Juseleeno’s prophesy is not only for the disease and earthquake but also for the exact name. For example the formal US president Gore famous book “ An Inconvenient Truth”. The name of tornado which will attack Brazil, and thousands people will die, the name of infectious disease ( ALS), the name for San Francisco’s earthquake
(the Big One) and etc. events. ◎2012年

2012

The area of glebe will be extended regarding the aridity and become desert, from 2015 till 2020, the trees will disappear in Amazon. From 6th Dec. the sky will start the black cloud time, it is called weather cloudy. Human start die because of the infectious disease’s overspread. 2013 Find the treatment for cancel except the brain cancel. Bahamas of West Indies, from 1st Nov. till 25th the Volcano will break out and bring the earthquake too, after that will be 150 meters huge tsunami, about 80 meters tsunami will go to Caribbean, About 15 kilometer to 20 kilometer to USA , Brazil and other countries. The sea will go down 6 meters before the tsunami and the birds will move away too. Mr.Juseleeno predicted that when the cats and dogs know the disaster is coming, they want to get away from the venue, they will have strange behaviors 24 hours before the disaster, so we can use that for the standard of judgement. 2014 The small planet will be closer to the earth and may knock together, the exist of this small planet will influent the issue of human live. 2015 In November, the average temperature will reach 59 degrees, many people will die, the world confusion will be bigger. 2016In the middle of April, huge typhoon will attach some cities of China , about one thousand people will die. The US president Bush will be in the hospital suddenly, has serious sickness. 2018 About the issue of small planet will be closer to the earth, the leaders of each country will gather together to discuss the countermeasure, Mr. Juseleeno already predicted in 2000, and informed the NASA of USA about the exist of the small planet. On 31st June,2002, NASA confirmed and called this small planet 2002ZNT7」。 2019 May find out the science power solution, if the small planet knock together, 1/3 population of the world will die. Mr. Juseleeno predicted that the percentage for the small planet knock the earth will be 60% . In June, the east sea of Japan will get the Tsunami, bigger then the Indonesia tsunami. ◎2025年

2025 Astronomer will find new planet, it may knock the earth again, the possibility will be 80%. ◎2026年

2026 In July, San Francisco will get huge earthquake, it is called “ the big one”, San Andreas Fault will be destroyed, California will disappear, a lot of crater will start again, the tsunami will be more than 150 meters. ◎2043年

2043 The world population reduced, about 80% people dead in the disaster. Will 2008 Beijing Olympic Game be held smoothly?

As above said, in 2008, China will get 9.1 earthquake and more than millions people will die, according to Mr. Juseleeno’s prediction that the earth quake will be 13th September,2008, and Olympic will hold on 8th August-24th, In this schedule, the earthquake will happen after Olympic, but before the big earthquake, there will be a lot of small earthquake, it will make the country and people upset. There will be a lot of small earthquake before the big one, although Juseleeno didn’t predict the exact date, but if we presume the small earthquake will happen one or two month before and it may be the period of Olympic, if so it may make the host and athletes give up. When the writer read this prophesy from Juseleeno, he suddenly remember the space time traveler John Titoer’s last word “ 2004 Athens Olympic Game will be last one”

But, if the earthquake is in the south of China , Nanning and Hai Nan, and there are no Olympic games, the Beijing Olympic Game will close successfully. But the problem is that China government is only care about the reputation and successfully of the Olympic game, ignore the small earthquakes, and no preparation before the big one. China may control the report, closed all the news . If so there will be a big disaster as the prophesy said. In Mr. Juseleeno’s warning letter said “ if there is no preparation to protect the citizens, will get huge loss’

Mr. Juseleeno also predicted that glacier period is coming.

He also has the right prophesy for the weather, one of them is, in 2003, Europe got high temperature, 29th October, 2001, the warning letter said “ the nature world will beat back to the world, the temperature of France, Germany and Portugal will become higher, more than ten thousand people will die, this disaster will happen between 2003 and 2004” . the truth is, the temperature in the summer of 2003 had reached the highest one which they’ve never had in Europe, about 35.000 people dead, especially France and Germany , about 14,000 people dead in France and 7000 people dead in Germany .From Mr.Juseleeno’s prophesy, the earth temperature will get higher every year, till 2012, the temperature in Africa will reach 58 degrees and the same time will have serious water problem, after the temperature will be even higher, till 2015, the average temperature of earth will reach 59 degrees, a lot of people will die, the human will get frighten all over the world. If this is the truth, the countries will against each other because of the aridity and not enough food, Mr. Jeseleeno also predicted that there will be some new wars because of the aridity, but he didn’t have clear prophesy, but he felt it won’t be the normal war.

Anyway, the temperature is getting higher is not like the aerography said ( the speed is very slow), actually very quick. However the warmness seems not always incessancy, after the high temperature, a big part of ice of Greenland and South Pole will be dissolved and go to the sea, the circulation of the sea will be lower and become colder, it means a new glacier time. In Juseleeno’s prophesy seems also said after 2027, there will be a new glacier. Details of the prophesy as below:The volcano of America yellow park will break out, the smoke and magma will go 1,600 kilometer far, Kansas , Nebraska , Montana will all get damaged. The break out of the volcano is not only in Yellow park, but also some other place in the world. these smoke will blot out the sun, the circulation of see will stagnate and active the cold phenomena.

Eir and kol got Nobel awardAs we all know, the formal president Gore dedicate on study of earth temperature, his famous book “ An Inconvenient Truth” was made to a movie and also get the Oscar award. Actually 19 years ago, Mr. Juseleeno already predicted about this, the phophesy had been published on Moon Magazine in June, in the end of may, before the publish, the editor told the writer about this, I really got surprised for a while..

According the letter which Juseleeno sent to Gore, this prophesy letter already inform Gore that from 1993 to 2001 he won’t be the vice president anymore, he will dedicate on protect the world environment activities, and he will write a book “An Inconvenient Truth” to become famous, the English letter Juseleeno wrote to Gore also told the books name and he will get the 2007 Nobel award, we will know this autumn, Let’s looking forward for the prophesy for Mr. Gorel. We can’t deny Mr. Juseleeno’s prophesy.

There are not much time for Human, from December 2007, the Black Cloud will extend all over the world, as Mr. Juseleeno predicted that if the human still keep the actuality, human will have terrible life from 2008 till 2012 , the black cloud will full of the sky before the disaster. If we want the disaster, and war stay away from us, the deadline for human is the end of 2007. Mr. Juseleeno expected the world consciousness will change in the end of 2007.

The situation is very serious now, if we still want to depend on other’s power, Mr. Juseleeno’s prophesy “ the black future” will happen. We must understand the serious situation, individual to individual, group to group, country to county, hold you own responsibility, take action, because the deadline will come soon.

Inability and tiny ability is totally different, inability is no matter whatever we do, it won’t help. But tiny ability mean more people contribute and the power will become strong. We have do start from ourselves, one people’s power is small but if we put everyone’s power together, It will be strong to change the future disaster.

We celebrated Miggy's 3rd birthday last May 30 at Chili's here in Doha. Since Miggy is so fascinated with airplanes, we chose to throw an airplane party for him in which he wore a pilot uniform. Most of our friends from Couples for Christ were invited together with Richie's Filipino office mates. The accommodating Filipino staff from Chili's helped us out with the venue set up & program which was suffice enough to make the party lively & enjoyable both for kids & adults. Everyone had fun, most especially our little pilot. Check more pics at Miggy's Site.

The long wait is finally over. The church of Our Lady of the Rosary (St.Mary's Church) was inaugurated last Saturday, March 15. It was a historical event, and the ceremony which lasted for almost 4 hours was magnificent.People from different nations gathered to celebrate and participated for its success. Thousands of people who came in have witnessed the bare altar, how it was anointed, incensed and arranged for the first time. The celebration was very festive, dancers synchronized with the singing of the choir during the opening & recessional hymn. It was a hair rising joyous moment when the Beads of Harmony Choir, which was organized & incorporated from the different music ministries and in which we joined in, sung Sing Out & Shine Jesus Shine during the solemn entrance  and recessional respectively.

Christians braved the rough road going to the church and the long queue just to attest and participate in this very important milestone of Catholicism in Qatar. To avoid overcrowding, the entrance of the church were locked after the people who came in early filled it up. A big screen was placed outside instead for the benefit of those who were not accommodated inside.

The bishops & priests who flew in from different countries were so thankful to the Qatar government for having allowed a home for the Catholic expatriates in the country. In spite of the  differences in religion, Qatar security has fully supported and did their work to make sure there is peace & order on the event.

Here are some pictures taken during our grand rehearsal & inauguration.

I saw this site through my online buddy, Ninnaricci, and so i played  with some of Richie & Miggy's pictures. I'm not photogenic so i'd rather have their pics posted here. I had fun doing this! I hope www.magmypic.com would come up with more magazines. Kudos!

Christians in Qatar will celebrate the opening & blessing of the first Roman Catholic church in the country soon. The church which has a seating capacity of 2,700 is now in its finishing works, but was supposed to open last December 2007. The building is set to have a multi-purpose hall, chapels and staff house. Our Filipino parish priest Fr. Tom Veneracion, as well as the parish ministries & organizations are busy preparing for its inauguration in Mesaimeer on March 15, 2008.

St.Mary's Church under construction at Mesaimeer, Qatar

Peoples of different nationalities, most of whom are Filipinos, Indians and Sri Lankans united to share their talents and time for the blessing & opening of St.Mary’s Church. Richie & I, together with our friends from Couples for Christ’s Music Ministry joined with the various choirs who will sing as one on the day of inauguration. Though the practices have taken most of our weeknights, we feel so lucky and privilege to take part & be witnesses of this historic Catholic event in Qatar.

Sadly though, the opening of this first Catholic church has triggered debates that already spread in some Gulf newspapers.  Read this article from the Philippine Inquirer. "The cross should not be raised in the sky of Qatar, nor should bells toll in Doha," wrote columnist Lahdan bin Issa al-Muhanadi in the Doha daily Al-Arab. With arguments like this, how come then that Muslims are free to practice their faith in a Catholic country like Philippines?  In all honesty, his statement is quite offensive though looking at the brighter side, Qatar in their new constitution promotes religious rights.

Richie & I did not celebrate Valentine's day with the usual romantic candlelight dinner for two. We spent the Heart's day with my mom & dad who are here with us on a vacation (read about my parents arrival in Doha in my other blog). It was actually a family date with my parents and Miggy. Richie treated us to dinner at the Ritz - Carlton which is located in the West Bay Lagoon District in Doha. He actually surprised me. I didn't have any idea at all. It was his first time to plan secretly & book for a reservation for us.

After the sumptuous casual dinner at the Lagoon restaurant, we took a walk outside and enjoyed the view of the landscaped garden.

It was such a nice feeling having spent another Valentine's Day with my mom & dad. The last time we had Valentine dinner together was about three years ago when i was pregnant with Miggy.

It was a cold & sleeting Sunday during our last day in Munich. The temperature outside was about 2-3 deg. centigrade. Richie wanted to stay & sleep in the hotel, still tired from our previous day trip in Bavaria but I was determined to stroll around town to see the city highlights. After all, it will defeat the purpose of traveling there if we will just stay in the room the whole day. So in spite of the weather we headed to the city center and availed the hop-on hop-off tour in a double-decker bus. With it comes the live guide who talked about the highlights of Munich, which is perfect for travelers with limited time.

As usual, Miggy enjoyed riding the bus but to our surprise, he suddenly fell asleep. I was busy taking pictures of the sites through the bus window but it did not produce good results since it was drizzling.

We went down the bus at the Max-Joseph-Platz, had some picture taking and spent most of the day walking around until we incidentally came to the Marienplatz , the very center of Munich where the Rathaus/Glockenspiel or New City hall with the famous chimes is located.

Tourists would flock in the square a few minutes before 11 am, 12nn and 5pm to witness the Glockenspiel playing in the tower of the Rathaus. The Marienplatz is so full of life, surrounded by cafes, shops, bars, churches & lovely facades. Lucky for Richie that he was not able to spend more euros that day - the shops were all closed as it was a Sunday so I was not able to shop there. Hmm, I should have reversed the itinerary; Saturday in Munich city, and Sunday in Bavaria. Hehehe.

We were not able to take plenty of good shots that time. First, my digicam’s batteries went off aside from the fact that we have already replaced it twice that day - it was probably due the cold weather. Second, since it was drizzling once in a while, I was hesitant to use Richie’s camera, I only shoot when we were walking covered by roof. Third, Miggy was not so cooperative he just wanted to run all over the place.

Two days in Munich was not really enough to see the heart of the city. There were just plenty of things we missed such as the Viktualienmarkt, which is Germany’s liveliest famous market; Church Frauenkirche with its twin towers; the palace of Nymphenburg; the Haufbrauhaus or word’s famous beer hall, the tour inside the Residenz and the English Gardens. We did not even see the interiors of the churches. I guess it is ideal to allot a week if anyone would like to explore and enjoy the wonderful sights in Munich. I’m glad though that still, our visit in Bavaria was all worth it.

We arrived in Munich on a Friday night, about 8’o clock. It could have been earlier if we were able to catch the connecting train from Mannheim. Nah, it was actually the train from Mainz which was delayed for 30 minutes. The weather in Munich as expected was quite cold, at about 3 degrees centigrade. Good thing that I was able to check on the weather forecast, so we came in a little bit prepared. Yup, just a little, because we were not able to equip ourselves with our winter cap. BBC weather said there will be sleet & snow which I didn’t take seriously because autumn has just started in Germany.

A Day Trip in Bavaria

Saturday at 8:30am we went in front of Hauptbanhof , the meeting place for the royal castles tour. Bavaria is 2 hours away from Munich by train & bus so we decided to come in group tour because it would be convenient for us with a toddler in tow.

Riding on a coach with other tourists, we headed to Bavaria ushered by the tourist guide. She said that the snow was unexpected and untimely. It was early winter in Bavaria. Seeing the lovely view from the bus was a real excitement. We passed along the road with the countryside filled with farms, streams, rivers and vineyards.

Our first stop was at Linderhof castle. The Schloss Linderhof is a palace in Germany, near Oberamerrgau in southwest Bavaria near Ettal Abbey. It is the smallest of the three palaces built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria and the only one of which he lived to see in completion (source: Wikipedia).  It is the favorite castle of King Ludwig in French rococo style which was built in between 1870 and 1879. The interior of the castle was so luxuriant and I was impressed with the dining table that can be lowered down to the kitchen located below the dining room. The servants would just stock the food to the table and have it raised back again. There was also a hall of mirrors which seems like you are in an endless corridor.

Unluckily, we were not able to appreciate the sight of the gardens and the castle fountain because of the snow. The fountain during ordinary days would spout water upward of a hundred feet into the air. We were not able to take so many pictures around the castle as we were pressed for time. We needed to come back to the bus immediately as requested by our tour guide.

Our second stop was at Oberamerrgau, a town in Bavaria which is world-famous for its Passion plays, the woodcarvers and the richly painted houses.
The houses and shops were so lovely with the paintings. Tourists can do all their shopping for cuckoo clocks, music boxes, wood carvings, nut crackers, dolls, Christmas decors, etc., tax free. Again, I could have taken more shots if not for the snow, and if we were given more time to stay.

On our way to our last destination, we passed through the Romantic road, one of the stunningly beautiful stretches of road in Germany. Our final stop was at Hohenschwangau where the path to the famous & fabulous Neuchswanstein castle of King Ludwig starts. We arrived there around 1 pm and were told to be back at 5pm as the bus will be leaving sharp at 5:15pm. The three of us needed to have a break first, we had to take our lunch and do some errands for Miggy. We were again pressed for time. The meal was so expensive, but we did not enjoy it. We should have not trusted our tour guide for having recommended the restaurant.

The castle is located on a mountain top. Going there by foot is about 30 minutes and our group was intended to get into the castle at 3pm so we had to rush. I thought about riding the horse carriages instead of walking to save up time, but there was a long queue for the ride. Walking up to the mountain, we occasionally stopped for some picture taking. Miggy enjoyed it a lot in spite of the cold weather, asking for a snowball every now & then.

The Neuchswanstein castle which was built by King Ludwig in 1869 is the most photographed building in Germany. It is the only location in the country that was nominated for the new 7 Wonders of the World and is one of the most popular castles in Europe.  It served as the model and inspiration of Cinderella castle in Disneyland.

The castle’s interior and exterior are splendid. Although we were not allowed to take pictures inside, we were able to buy a book that served as our memorabilia containing inside pictures of the castle, its construction details and about the life of King Ludwig’s. The surrounding area of the castle is breathtaking, the mountain (Bavarian Alps) as well as the lake setting. History says it was here that he was dethroned in 1886 and was called “mad Ludwig” and died mysteriously after a few days with his psychiatrist drowned in the nearby lake.

I guess that winter or summer, the castle is worth visiting. During the tour, we climbed a number of steps getting to every room and having Miggy with us was quite a handful. He was struggling as I carried him & wanted to climb the stairs just like us. We finished the tour in about 35 minutes, and immediately went down the hill to make it on time. Duh, the three of us were the last passengers to get into our bus. Oh well; they should have excused us for that since we had a little one.

The day in Bavaria was taxing, but I was pleased that I opted to book for a group tour. Otherwise, we could have not made it going there on our own because of the weather. I was also thankful that Miggy was able to brave the exhausting trip; he in fact had fun and even played with our co-passengers in the bus on our way back to Munich.

A visit to the Linderhof & Neuchswanstein castles is a wonderful experience.  This is one of our most memorable trips in Germany. (to be continued )

After the tiring but awesome trip at Heidelberg, we headed to Stuttgart the next day.It took us about 2 hours to get there by train from Mainz, and since we were not able to leave earlier than planned we only had a half day to spend. We didn’t have ample time to tour around the interesting places such as the Wilhelma, now the largest zoological and botanical garden in Europe, and the Television Tower (Fernsehturm) which is the symbol of Stuttgart.  We took the tram (thanks to the helpful staff at the S-Bahn station) and went straight ahead to Mercedes Benz Museum which was actually our main purpose in visiting the city. Plenty of people took the ride with us in the tram thinking they too were going to the museum, but I was surprised to know that they were all headed to a circus. I realized, Germans in Stuttgart are circus fanatics as it caused traffic around the area, and I saw how people flocked together excitedly going there. I thought then, that must be really interesting and wanted to check it out afterwards. After going down the tram, we walked for about 15 minutes passing at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion where the 2006 Fifa World Cup was held. It is one of Europe’s most advanced and functional sporting arenas.

Just a few meters away, you’ll see the signage going to the Mercedes Benz Museum. Two things I like about our trip there: they provide free audio tour in the language of your choice and they allow visitors to take photographs inside. From the entrance, we were carried by their futuristic elevator to the topmost floor, and from there descended on our own to about 8-9 levels of galleries.

The Mercedes-Benz museum that was reportedly built at a cost of $192-million is a major attraction all over the world and even for non-car enthusiasts; anyone can see its brilliancy. Very educational & fun too, it is a journey from the invention of the automobile to the cutting edge designs. Richie & Miggy enjoyed looking at the automobiles and I, got fascinated as well as I took pictures of the display.  Richie tried the F1 simulator that let him experienced the real F1 race ride. Down to the souvenir area they sell different memento, from miniatures cars to real ones should you wish to buy.

There was even one toy car I saw that costs 400 euros. By the way, I thought I saw something like this one before some years ago at the Malacanang palace which was used to be owned by
the Marcos grandchildren. A must see for those who visit Stuttgart, the Mercedes-Benz Museum with their accommodating staff is real worthy at an entrance fee of 8 euros.
Check some pics i took at the museum here.

On our way home, we passed and checked out the circus exactly located at the tram station going back to the Hauptbanhof.

The circus unlike those which I have seen before was more frolic and fabulous though we cannot relate so much as everyone was talking in German.

We just went around taking pictures as Miggy enjoyed looking at the colorful facades and rides. He even experienced riding the kiddie train on his own for the first time. (My next blog: Bavaria & Munich)

Let me take a break first from my personal travelogue because exactly today is our 5th wedding anniversary. Such a momentous event to reminisce the day Richie & I said our vows to each other on November 29, 2002 at 6:30pm. We actually wanted our wedding date to fall on a December weekend, but our chosen dates in our chosen church were all fully booked as early as January that year. So without any peculiar reason, we marked the available date closest to December. Our officiating priest was the same celebrant who officiated my parents' nuptial about 35 years ago, which made our wedding more special. Looking back, I can still remember the bride's emotions i felt on that day. The jitters during the prenuptial ceremony, the mixed feelings as i awaited my bridal march, the teary moment while i walked heavenly down the aisle, and the joy of having shared our blessed union with our family, relatives & friends.

I have always wanted to post pictures from our wedding album, but unfortunately i wasn't able to bring it in Qatar so i'd share some which i have found in my computer file.

A Love Story

Once in our lifetime, we dream of someone
To love & cherish forever, someone heaven sent.
In the most unexpected time that person comes along,
Giving us love, filling us to overflowing.
It is such a bliss.
But then, no matter how strong it is
every relationship has its imperfections
Only to realize we're starting to lose that person.
But if two people are so much in love
they will always hold on and find each other again..
With total acceptance.
Until we start to think how it is to grow old together,
In hopes & doubts, bounded by blessings
To share one life....

It is on this day that i married my God's gift.

To all of you who have witnessed and rejoiced
with us on this precious day..
Thank You.

Richie & Cindy

It was almost a year of planning for one special day but was worth all the effort as we received credits from our guests for the dream wedding that me & Richie had prepared.

Here again are some clippings which my brother made from our unedited wedding video. Click here.

On our first Saturday in Germany we had a day trip to Heidelberg. The city is around 2 hours by train from Mainz, and plainly strolling around the old town was enough to see the highlights of the place.

From the city’s Hauptbanhof (main train station) we reached the old town by foot. We bought a city guide & map from the tourist information for 1 euro. The Haupstrasse in Heidelberg according to the city guide is one of the most beautiful pedestrian precincts and is actually the longest pedestrian zone of Europe It is a busy street going to the old town, marketplace and city hall. Going to the Heidelberg castle, we passed through this street, enjoyed looking at the Baroque & Renaissance facades, shops, bars, café, boutiques, restaurants and hotels. Wandering through the alleys and window shopping was already sight seeing for me. We stopped for a while in a fast food resto and I, as usual had Currywurst (sausage served with ketchup and curry) with Pomme Frites for lunch.

Miggy enjoyed walking and running trying to catch the birds. Along the street we saw an ice cream café (Italian ice cream), that we didn’t resist trying. Germans are typical ice cream lovers and in every city of Germany you will find ice cream stores. I also entered Kathe Wolhfahrt (a well known chain of store in Germany) selling Christmas ornaments, cuckoo clocks, and stuffed toys. Well yeah, I enjoyed looking at them which tempted me to point & shoot. A saleslady saw me and prohibited me from taking pics, - but she was too late I already took some shots, hehe. It was really overwhelming inside the store. But I didn’t shop there. Items are quite expensive especially the Steiff stuffed toys which are such a collectors item.

The Heidelberg University is the oldest university in Germany and one of Europe’s leading university. For a trivia, it is where our national hero Jose P. Rizal earned his second doctorate degree and wrote his classic novel Noli me Tangere. A Pinoy we met at the Heidelberg castle told me that they went to the house & statue of JP Rizal. Unfortunately, we were not able to visit the place since I was not familiar about it.

Going to the schloss (castle), we followed the crowd and the group of tourists with their guide. It was a little bit tiring for us since we needed to walk up hill. It was a brick road & we feared that Miggy’s stroller would anytime breakdown. Surprisingly, Miggy was so excited that he opted to walk. A lot of tourists visited the castle, most of them Europeans & Japanese...and just like us were so charmed in the breath taking view of Heidelberg. The schloss which symbolizes the city is a famous ruin in Germany and was home to the Palatinate Prince Electors. The castle has only been partially restored since its destruction in the 17th century. Within the castle ground we found the German Apotheke Museum that exhibits the development of pharmaceuticals and medicine in four different centuries.

Miggy got too tired & went asleep on his stroller, and as we passed the brick road down the hill I was taking shots of anything that reflected Heidelberg’s culture.  We then headed again to the old town, and for a brief moment had a coffee break to warm ourselves in one of the cafes’ named Café Knosel. I was drooling over the cakes displayed inside their counter, but nah….their black forest was not so extra ordinary.

After a cup of coffee, we walked again a few minutes going to the Old Bridge. Tourists flock in there and lovers get charmed and felt more romantic promenading to get a view of the city, the castle and the Neckar River. From the bridge, everything you see is so picturesque. We finished off with our picture taking at the bridge then headed to a souvenir shop. To wrap up, Heidelberg is such a beautiful and touristy German city. I would love to go back there given another chance. Check our pics in Heidelberg here.

The weather was almost perfect; we took a cab going to Mainz from Frankfurt airport. Unfamiliar with the hotel that we were heading to, the taxi driver relied on his GPS navigator. After how many minutes of searching, we finally reached our destination. The hotel is located on top of a hill, and is about 15 minute walk to the train main station. The room that we stayed in is an apartment style, furnished with a microwave, stove & coffee maker good enough to make us comfortable for a 2-week accommodation. The best thing of all, it provided free internet for us. We rested & took a nap for a while then walked & found our way to the old town.

It was a cold & sunny Sunday afternoon,
a usual rest day for the locals with
all
shops closed. Had some picture
taking at Schillerplatz, and since summer has just ended, we were still able to see its flower garden. We started getting hungry so we went to Maredo and ordered pork ribs (how we missed pork!) for dinner.

After the sumptuous meal, we promenaded within town - it was nice to see the highlights of the place again at night. We felt the temperature has gone down a little bit, so we needed to go back to the hotel already as Miggy was not properly dressed in warmer clothes.

==========================================

On our first morning in Mainz, we walked through the park nearest our hotel – the Hartenberg park. For me, it was not as stunning as the Stadtpark that Miggy & I used to visit last year. Within the first few days of our stay in Mainz, the weather was ideal for wandering around town. I saw how locals, tourists and even senior citizens sit outside café’s, sipping a cup of coffee or drinking beers and wine under the sun. I just regret not allotting so much time to let Miggy play around. Some days we stayed in the hotel, letting him watch Spongebob (though it was in German language). Some days we had walks going to the supermarket – he’s just adorable walking quietly beside me while holding his teddy bear.
And there were days I’d push him  in his stroller going to the train station & city center.
Those were bonding moments for the two of us, but some other times I
wished he could just spare me from his temper tantrums, fit and annoying demands. He would insist to run after the birds, get in the elevator, walk even I ask him to stay seated on his stroller, and oftentimes would ask me to go out and ride the bus. Yeah, I finally experienced riding the bus with him alone.
It was scary at first, but I got used to it. Those were some adventures Miggy & I went through in Germany.

==========================================

Apart from our afternoon town meet ups, Richie & I often chilled out around city center, shopped (and window shopped) or just plainly took pictures of the attractions. We were fortunate to see other highlights of the city which we missed last year such as the Christ Church which is actually a Protestant church built in the style of High Renaissance in 1895. Apart from the Mainz Dom (Cathedral) it is a very attractive piece of architecture dominating the skyline of Mainz with its copper dome. Unfortunately, the gates were closed so we were not able to get in. Another church that tourists often visit in Mainz is the St.Peter which has frescos inspired by Joseph Appiani's work. How adorable would it be to get married at this church, you’ll be overwhelmed with its interior, luxuriant altar and a richly adorned pulpit which all shine in glittering gold.

==========================================

Richie tasked me to plot our itinerary for the rest of our stay so I planned for us to have day trips to Heidelberg, Stuttgart, and Frankfurt and two-over-night-stay in Munich, being the farthest from the city of Mainz. Prior to our trip, I read from the internet that buying a German Rail pass (which is being offered to all tourists in Germany) provides 4 to 10 days unlimited train travel in 1 month on the national rail networks of Germany. We opted to buy a ticket good for 5 days, twin pass, at the Mainz Hauptbanhof (train main station) which is more economical than buying the tickets separately before boarding in every trip. Upon our trip to Heidelberg, we decided to buy the pass. Unfortunately, the service staff at the counter told us that German Rail pass is not available at Mainz. Arriving at Heidelberg we went again to the staff counter to buy the pass. Good thing it’s available there, but what the heck, he asked for our passport which we were not able to bring with us. The next day, we were able to buy it finally at Stuttgart Hauptbanhof. We could have save a lot on our ticket had we planned ahead & bought the German rail pass the day we arrived at Frankfurt airport.

==========================================

On our departure, we were scheduled to fly back to Doha at 11am. We left the hotel by cab in Mainz at around 8am, confident that we’ll be able to get to Frankfurt airport at around 9am. Unexpectedly, we were caught in traffic - the first time & worst I’ve ever seen in Germany. People in their cars were rushing all around the city and going out of the city to the Autobahn. The taxi driver informed us that the train drivers were on strike that day, that’s why people opted to bring their cars going to their respective destination. Luckily, the driver knew his way around so we were able to make it on time.

Upon check-in, we were informed that we exceeded the limit for our check-in luggage. Lufthansa required only 20 kilos per passenger and we were about 10 kilos over. The counter person asked us to pay 300 euros. Oh no, not again! I felt guilty….could have been my fault. Probably it was due to the pork canned goods I hoarded, or the kitchen wares which I bought to take advantage of the discounted price at Kauf Hof. Or maybe we were plainly unmindful packing our things. Whatever it was, we didn’t have enough time so Richie decided to pull out some of our stuff from the check-in luggage and hand carried it. We instead paid 100 euros for our excess baggage. Duh, what an experience learned the hard way!

for everyone

Miggy & I were given another chance to visit Germany last October when Richie had us in tow again for his business trip. Before we left, I already assumed that the weather would be better than the last time we came there. Summer has just ended and autumn has started. I enjoyed taking pictures wherever we went, and  i guess that it will take me a while to upload some of it.
So here I am again writing my personal travelogue...

 Our Flight to Frankfurt

At Doha Airport waiting for our flight, Miggy was overly excited knowing that he will again ride the plane. We checked-in at about 10pm for our 1:15am departure, so we still had time to stroll around the duty free but I only bought myself a Parenting magazine, for me to have something to read on hand in case boredom attacks me. Having skipped a heavy dinner, we just opted to have a cup of coffee & some pastries to refill our stomach. Good thing the airport has a play area for kids, so Miggy got busy playing around. Boarding time, I saw that Miggy turned to be more excited. While on the bus, he kept on pointing at the airplanes parked at the airport ramp.

On board Qatar Airways, the cabin crew served our meal and I asked for an extra bottle of water for Miggy’s milk. Not knowing that she opened the bottle for us, I placed the bottle at Miggy’s seat while he was seated on my lap. After a while, I saw Miggy’s seat spilled with water. A little upset, I informed the stewardess about it. She told me that it is their SOP to open the bottle before giving it to the passenger. I might have been a little negligent, but  she didn’t offered any help to the inconvenience it  caused us,  so we had no choice but to cover the seat  with  blankets since I know that Miggy will fall asleep any time soon. He dozed off to sleep after a while, but woke up with his pants wet.

It took us long to land after the pilot announced that we were preparing for landing. Probably we were in line since Frankfurt airport is one of the busiest airports in Europe. I felt the pressure in my ears and it was getting stronger as we stayed longer, hanging there for about 15 minutes. Too bad I had colds that time, I felt my eardrums would blow up. Miggy has started crying while touching his ears and some passengers were looking at us already but probably understood what he was crying all about. I offered him his bottle of milk to ease down the pressure in his ears but he refused. I can’t help but hoped that the flight would just be over. Finally, we arrived Frankfurt past 6am safely, but I would say that this was the worst flight I ever had.

As soon as we got to Frankfurt airport, Richie requested for a change of flight schedule on our departure going back to Doha. Unfortunately he paid 300 euros for that. We needed to be back earlier than planned to attend our baptism for the Christian Life Program of CFC. While waiting for him, I was looking at a French couple talking to a German Lufthansa employee – they were having an argument and I could see how irritated & annoyed the employee was while listening to the couple’s complaints. Told myself, she is just another typical German.  After a while, a Pinay Lufthansa manager patiently meddled in their conversation trying to empathize with the couple and having observed her, I told myself…. she’s a typical Filipino. The Desperate Housewives is actually one of my & my husband's favorite TV shows. But in their Premiere Episode of Season 4 last Sep. 30, Susan (being played by Teri Hatcher  who is one of my favorite actresses in the show) said a discriminatory line about Filipinos. The line that she said was very insulting, given the fact that there are a number of Filipino doctors who are really good in their field, I myself having encountered a lot of them from my previous job. It is also known that there are a lot of Filipino medical professionals in the US - board passers (!) and hardworking, so having said that degrading remark in their show is a total ignorance. If you feel for our fellow Filipino medical practitioners who were put down by the Desperate Housewives' desperate scheme to amuse its audience, you can sign and demand ABC and the show to ask for an apology by going to this site - Petition to ABC.
For those of you who haven't seen the episode, watch it here.

MY NOTIONS AND EMOTIONS: ,

for everyone
Yesterday was the first day of Ramadan and this is my 2nd time of witnessing this yearly Muslim tradition here in Doha. Honestly though, i am quite ignorant about it. I only stay home and everything that I perceive are merely observations. Aside from fasting, the only thing i know is that work schedule here is shortened during this event, and of course, the malls & restaurants too. On the road, vehicles are just too few til around 6-7pm. We in fact went out last night to watch a movie and on our way to the mall, i observed that the streets are not as busy as they were during normal days. But as the night goes on, people would normally go out -  going to the malls, flocking in to eat, and some would just do their daily chores.

To be more keen about this Muslim tradition, i've searched the net and found the facts. Read on.

10 facts about Ramadan:

1. ( For this year) On September 13, 2007, the Muslim community in Flint, Michigan and around the world will begun the month-long fast of Ramadan (rom-a-don). On or about October 12, 2007 , the Muslim community in Flint will celebrate the end of the month-long fast of Ramadan with communal prayers and a brief meet and greet gathering at the Mosque.

2. Ramadan is an Islamic religious observance that takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, when the Qur'an was revealed. It is considered the most venerated and blessed month of the Islamic year.

3. The name "Ramadan" is taken from the name of this month; the word itself derived from an Arabic word for intense heat, scorched ground, and shortness of rations.

4. The most prominent event of this month is the daytime fasting (sawm) practiced by most observant Muslims. Every day during the month of Ramadan, Muslims around the world get up before dawn to eat and perform their fajr prayer. They break their fast when the fourth prayer of the day, Maghrib (sunset), is due.

5. Those who are exempted from fasting are children below 12 years, muslims who are physically & mentally challenged, senior citizens, those who travel long distances, pregnant women & nursing mothers and women who are menstruating.

6. During Ramadan, Muslims are also expected to put more effort into following the teachings of Islam as well as refraining from anger, envy, greed, lust, sarcastic retorts, backbiting, and gossip.Obscene and irreligious sights and sounds are to be avoided; sexual intercourse during fasting hours is also forbidden. Purity of both thought and action is important.

7. In addition to fasting, Muslims are encouraged to read the entire Qur'an. Muslims tend to perform the recitation of the entire Qur'an by means of special prayers, called Tarawih, which are held in the mosques every night of the month, during which a whole section of the Qur'an  is recited, so that by the end of the month the entire Qur'an has been completed.

8. Ramadan is an important time for Muslims, not simply because it helps develop a closer relationship with God, but also because Ramadan is a time to think about those who are less fortunate. Another goal of fasting for Ramadan is to experience hunger in sympathy for those without food. It is a way that many Muslims learn thankfulness and appreciation for what they have.

9. Ramadan is considered the most joyful month of the year, and the month ends with the greatest celebration of all, the breaking of the fast, Eid al-Fitr. Around the world, Muslims celebrate with lights and decorations.During the celebration, people dress in their finest clothes, decorate their homes with lights, give treats to the children and visit with friends and family.

10. During Eid Muslims greet each other with the phrase "taqabbalallah ta'atakum," or "may God accept your deeds" and "Eid Mubarak" (eed-moo-bar-ak), meaning "blessed Eid."

Eid Mubarak!!!
